“My interest in supporting the military as a civilian volunteer began years ago during Operation Desert Shield when myself and a group of local business people created Operation Valley Shield with the mission being our private companies committing to hire returning veterans from the first Iraq war. Like all of us the experience of 9/11 was tragic and galvanizing and we all have our own stories of that day. I was sitting on an American Airlines early morning flight at Boston Logan where the terrorist flights were originating awaiting departure when they closed the airport and held our plane on the runway. With no communication and the reports trickling in at home about hijacked flights from Boston hitting the towers my family had no idea on what plane I was on. During the ensuing months and years it became evident there were simply not enough civilian first responders to supporting our returning men and woman in uniform from years of war and I vowed to always make it a priority and to challenge my civilian associates to do the same. ”
JB is married to his wife of 36 years, Corinne. They have three children together (Jessica, Jenna, & John Jr.), a granddaughter (Payton), and a grandson on the way.
